Fact:: in almost all cases 2 out of these 4 symptoms are present:: (but don't have to be) stiff neck, confusion/altered mental state, fever, headache. Many doctors don't have a clue how to dx it and think you need a rash and a fever - I know because I have a CSF leak & contracted bacterial meningitis. The first ED and my new PCP dismissed me when I told them that I had contracted bacterial meningitis after seeing an ENT who scoped my nose at a consultation for an ongoing CSF leak. I've been dealing with this leak for a few years now and was told by my former neurologist what symptoms to watch out for because of the leak. My initial symptoms were severe stiff neck, headache, disorientation, low grade fever, chills, nausea and vomiting. I was also concerned about scattered petechiae that I had, (which someone from infectious disease said was likely caused by the bacteria making it's way into my bloodstream) but I brought it up because I had an ED Dr (erroneously) tell me to wait for a rash. My PCP lied to me and told me that I would have to wait for a neurologist to diagnose me, even though I knew that wasn't true I didn't know what else to do. That was Sept 28th and within 3 weeks I experienced compartment syndrome (which was missed) and rhabdomyolysis, my CK levels being elevated into the 1200s due to the compartment syndrome starting first in my arms and back, then everything from the waist down and then into my abdomen and chest in a 6 week timeframe and the ED Drs dismissed me as well, I'm now at the point where I'm having seizures, confusion and my joints are so painfully swollen and my head is burning. The ENT office did a gram stain of my CSF sample at the end of Nov because my former neurologist suggested it since I have a pineocytoma that caused the lead and it showed "alcaligenes faecalis" which is a rare type of meningitis often transmitted from medical equipment but because the beta 2 transferrin results were negative I was told by an ED Dr & my PCP that the results of the gram stain were unimportant. The craziest thing is that after I saw the CSF leak specialist in Feb (the first ENT doesn't work with leaks which is obvious given the fact that he introduced a foreign object into my nose) he said I needed to be vaccinated for pneumonia and meningococcal meningitis & my PCP watched me get it done after I have been telling him that I have it for months. I explained that there's commonly false negatives in beta 2 transferrin tests notably when an inflammatory process is taking place and that they explained how they'd have to go in my nose endoscopically and look for the exact location of the leak because they already know it's in the skull base area as it was caused by the growth of the pineocytoma to 2cm. I was mocked, laughed and essentially called a liar for over 7 months and laughed at for not dying fast enough despite having 4 doctors say that I obviously have it (and I was dx with known complications multiple times) & that something is deeply wrong with the hospitals in my area. Now it's over a year later, I'm pulling my hair out going crazy and my skull and bones are infected and painfully swollen, my abdominal organs are distended on CT scans and I'm dying a slow excruciatingly painful death and I'm terrified of going back to any hospital near me but can't get anywhere else. Rochester NY has awful hospitals, you're better off going to the chapel and praying for God to help you than you are waiting up to 25+ hours and expecting one of these inept, inhumane, inexperienced children playing doctor to help you. Know the symptoms so you can get to your local hospital.

My wife is currently recovering from bowel impactio n and a subsequent spinal fusion. Is now in full nursing care in a care home. She was three months in hospital in three different hospitals. She became very distressed within a a few days and given more painkillers for abdominal pain. When she was transferred to the Spinal unit the surgeon phoned me to check that she didn't have dementia. The operation was successful but her recovery was delayed by not eating, nausea, bileousness; yet more painkillers and more morphine than a crack den. Discharged to a local community hospital for assessment and discharge. Unable to engage with therapies still sick and in pain. Transferred to nursing home with full nursing care. Five days later she was sent to A&E diagnosed as having paraylitic ileas same diagnosis as three months ago. Spent a week in hospital being infused. Returned to the care home. After three months in quiet bedroom and caring staff she is slowly recovering from the delirium; still doubly incontinent and unable to stand.

Swelling of the feet could be linked to kidney disease. I am a bit angry with some of the doctors who are probably complicated the problem. If the kidneys help maintain the Blood Pressure, then maintaining, the kidneys should probably maintain blood pressure.

I can barely make out what either of them are saying!!! Especially when they are doing the cadence speaking techniques of up and down rhythms and when the main speaker gets more comfortable, and lowers her voice and effort to almost nil!! And her accent is most inappropriate for an American and "urban" audience in particular. She has a very irritating habit of mumbling and running her words together, and it sounds more garbled, as you are straining to hear and decipher what she is saying. This is utterly lazy and spoiled speech 🗨. The hard of hearing and elderly could never understand what she is saying! And many of the privileged elitist American majority mis-think that British and English automatically equates with sophistication and class. I guess this is their version of Ebonics?!?!! Either way, You can keep and have it!

You have to get your GP to refer you to a pain clinic where they'll discuss options like botox. Keep pushing for a referral and don't settle for pain modifying meds, they tend to have horrible side effects that some can't tolerate. You can also privately pay for botox for migraines (while you wait for referral) but ensure you go to a good professional and not just aesthetic practitioners. Good luck, hope you find relief soon 🙏
